It certainly does offer a distraction. The coupe "premium" (as in "an amount paid above what would be considered the
ordinary price for an item") looks like a trend that isn't going away any time soon. It's unfortunate, but the only way we'd see any move away from that model is if coupe sales suffered as a result. In other words, the only way to fight that trend is to not buy the car. I don't see that happening. There are too many people with the money to spend.
I'm probably going to stay with the 2-series and wait for the M2. The pricing on the M4 looks like it's going to push in to Carrera territory, or more realistically, very well equipped Cayman S territory. I just can't wrap my head around the financial commitment at that price level.
