It doesn't take much water into the car at all to cause major damage. Basically if you get more water in than is evaporated by the heat before compression in a cylinder, you are probably pretty screwed.

Also OP didn't get out and measure the water, so we really don't know if it was only 8" or 12" or what. (no offense OP, but you know what i mean yea?)

Also please let us know if there is any new news? Is your car fixed yet? Hoping for the best for you.
Yes I measured while waiting for tow.
Car is fixed and now going through break-in period. New engine, new turbos and starter.
