I'll bet that the hood wasn't completely closed, and someone tried to push it shut and accidentally dented it. When I saw the M4 at the NY auto show, someone had only partially closed the hood, and when I tried to get the other side down (just by pushing on it), the aluminum pushed in like that. It scared the hell out of me, but luckily when I pulled my hand away it popped back out. I thought I dented the car... lol.
