Mercedes always had more power than the M3, yet BMW didn't feel a need to rectify that.
BMW tends to have "round" figures in kilowatts of power. For example, the current M3 has 309kW. BMW M5 has 418kW. A good figure to keep the new M3 from beating the new M5, given the fact that the new M5 is quite heavy at 1920kg, would be like 320-335kW. Given the fact that the new M3 will probably be significantly lighter than the old M3 (lighter engine than the old V8 + carbon technology they showcased with the M3 CRT), I would say the 320-335kW (430-440hp - more likely 440hp) would be a good figure. Otherwise the M3 would beat the M5 on all magazine tests, and I'm not sure BMW wants this, they need to make money
So I think the new M3 will have very close to 440hp. I fact, I can't make my mind between 430 and 440
