Sorry, I struggled a bit with the re-sizing of the pictures.
See my OP again. Look at the trim above the leather where the ambiance lighting resides. On the M3, it is mate black while in the M4, it is black chrome (the same as on the dash). If you look at the third and fourth pictures from the F30 LCI, you'll see the trim carries over onto the door.
