Possibly. I am purely speculating here.

It is just that when the 991 GT3 was introduced, they talked about this feature when pulling both paddles, both clutches would dissengage without changing gears. When the paddles are released, it would dump the clutch in the given gear regardless of RPM. I found this feature pretty neat giving you even more control over the transmission.
