M3 E46 and M3 E9X had ITB and thus needed the power dome to be able to respect the regulation of the distance between the highest part of the engine and the hood. The M3/M4 F8X will not have ITB and no other issues make the power dome nesessary.

But it is still possible BMW will do a power dome, but not by the 3F law, as it is the case with the X6 M50d. Both the X5 M50d and X6 M50d have the same front and the same engine, but BMW decided to the the X6 M50d, not the X5 M50d, the power dome from the X6 Hybrid, which in that case was necessary. I just hope BMW M hasn't fallen that low to give the power dome which is not needed, when their philosophy is "form follows function".
