GTR's sure are slow. I can see not wanting a car with a V6. NSX's sounded awful too. I admit that it wouldn't be my first choice, but it does seem that M may have learned something with the E9x, a straight six sure is long and a V motor allows for better packaging and handling potential.
Honestly, I think I'm in favor of M cars getting raw motors, balance be damned, and leaving the smooth and balanced engines for the non M cars. It's not like the E30 M3 had a balanced motor.
