For the record a diesel-electric hybrid V8 would be a cool setup as far as I am concerned as long as it performed well. Certainly more interesting than a vanilla turbocharged gasoline engine.
Assuming you are talking about the S65, though, you probably won't find it too popular a swap given the tuning potential for the new I6. And I would figure about $50k USD for a price tag if you really want to go that route.
There will probably be some racing applications for F8x + S65 though, yes.
