I understand the point but I beg to differ: the 1st M3 was 2-doors. So in my book it's like Porsche making the 911 a Panamera. Which clearly they did not do. Spo the
raison d'être of the Panamera was to avoid diluting the 911's heritage.
Of course there will be a heap of 'punters' who won't care a damn for the nomenclature. But in 1 gen the M3 will go to M4 and turbo. I embrace change but I believe this move to be wrong-headed. Keep the badge, we understand the need to go turbo to meet power and fuel economy requirements.
But I'm sure the M4 will sell well whatever I or other traditionalists think
