When I checked the charge air coolant reservoir it was below the min fill line. Engine coolant level is fine. Does anybody know if this is a common issue on these cars, and what might be causing the leak? Is it likely to be just a loose hose/connector or could the thermostat or radiator need replacing?

Could be any of those. Hoses are a possibility especially after disturbing the o-rings inside the connectors.

Rinse off residual coolant and get some coolant compatible UV dye. You should be able to quickly find the source of the leak with a UV light.
