I remember my aunt who lost a dog of hers. She was completely out of it for so long. He was a well trained German Shepherd too. None of the dogs after him was ever the same for me.

Losing a dog is really hard, because it hits really deep - almost like it’s a family member, but it feels wrong to mourn it as though you lost a person in your life. You feel like you don’t really have permission to mourn publically.
I’ve been there.
