Regarding the engine, is it possible that since this m3/m4 and the m5/m6 where developed during the great recession, they used variations of existing powerplants as opposed to building standalone motors like they did on the previous generation?
I think I remember from the presser that they would be able to use the same assembly equipment used on the n55. Something that probably mattered to them a great deal during the planning process when the economy was at its worst.
