We got a hold of the operating manual of the F80 M3 and found some interesting tidbits we would like to share.

Break-In Period
As with any other current or late M model, break-in period is 2,000 km or 1,200 miles. During that time, maximum engine speed should not exceed 5,500 RPM, maximum speed is 170 kph (105 mph). Also, full-throttle and kickdown shall be avoided up until 1,200 miles.

Between 2,000 and 5,000 km (1,200 and 3,100 miles), engine RPM can be slowly increased but speed should not exceed 220 kph (137 mph) for a longer period of time.

Recommended Oil
Unlike the E9x M3, BMW recommends 0W-30 oil. The times of mandatory 10W-60 oil apparently seem to be over.

Engine Warmup / Shift Lights
The good ole engine warmup and shift lights in the tachometer are back (a la E46 M3). When the engine is cold, the permitted rev range is limited, as usual. While the E9x M3 did this via some analogue disc moving into and out of the permitted rev range, the F80 M3 and F82 M4 has led lights for this job.

These LED lights are also used for shift lights, regardless of whether there is HUD or not. Unfortunately, I do not know yet whether there will be shift lights for the manual transmission.

Launch Control simplified
Lastly about another DCT feature: BMW has simplified the launch control procedure. While it was a fairly complicated procedure with previous M cars, with the F80 M3 and F82 M4 engaging Launch Control is as easy as it gets: Turn off DSC, switch to S3, hold the brake, apply full throttle and let go of the brake.

I've added some more photos and text copied from the German operating manual, so let me know if there's anything in particular you guys want to know.
