My brother just picked up a 2007 RS4 with 43000KM (26000 miles) on it....... the V8 in the RS4 is quite a gem, extremely similar to the S65 IMO, albeit without the aggressive induction roar. Since the V8 in the new RS4 is essentially the same engine, I am sure it will be great too!!!

It is really sad that the next M3 won't have a NA V8 under the hood, I guess that is all the more reason to hold on to my E90. I am sure that M won't disappoint with whatever engine they decide to put into the F80/82/83 M3. Lets hope that BMW don't forget that the "M" in BMW stands for "Motor".
