I am sorry but I find this really hard to believe that BMW is fine with people installing parts without loosing warranty as long as it’s OEM. A lot can go wrong with these installs. I am also referring to engine parts. I guess that you just mean the fact that they will never know who installed the parts. So if some amateur forgets to correctly torque some bolts and this would lead to a catastrophic failure it’s the fault of BMW? Or is this just an unethical lifepro tip?
Get mechanical OEM parts installed at a dealer - it doesn't make any sense to go to an independent.

Any issue with an oem part will not be rectified by a dealer unless it was installed at the dealership.
