I have an opportunity to pick up a new 2013 M3 coupe in a month or so for a good price. I drove the car, love the sound of the engine and how it drives in general. Granted since I drive 3.30ci now - I may not be able to properly judge M3 given the gap between two cars - I just know it felt great.

I know it is ultimately personal preference but I wonder what people think - is it worth waiting for at least a year - and probably 18 months for 2014 M3 with better/more fuel efficient engine or just buy 2013 M3 now.

Two big pluses I see in 2014 M3 are fuel efficiency and four doors (this will be daily driver and I have kids). It will also remain "latest generation" for a while. Getting first year model worries me though.

Another option is to lease 2013 M3 and get 2016 M3 when lease is up. Clearly it is a more expensive proposition.

The car will be mainly used for daily driving with little if any tracking. No mods are planned.

Any thoughts?
