Don't compare M3 with Ferrari. Seriously.

And if you think that FI-engines do not belong in sports-cars, think about:
Nissan GT-R (racing in GT3 class against NA Ferraris, Lambo's etc)
Bugatti Veyron (fastest exotic sports car money can buy)
Porsche Turbo (legendary icon)
Subaru Impreza (dominated rally in its era)
Audi Quatro (dominated rally in its era)

Also there have been many years of turbo-charged F1 championships !

So turbo is very good. BMW just need to do it right in the next M3 (like no HPFP problems).
Racing version of GT-R has a NA V8. Bugatti doesn't participate in Motorsports, race 911 is a GT3, not a Turbo. Only WRC (rally cars) use turbo, but they have 4WD and anti-lag, what is not road legal. Well, now in WTCC they also went from NA 2.0l I4 to FI 1.6l I4.

E82M < E46M CSL

till the end of the world, unless BMW brings up a new M2 CSL powered by a FI I4.
