Go with your gut. That price quote is ridiculous! In other words they don't want to change it. You should ask him how that $1,400 charge breaks down. Oil, new plugs and labor!

Maybe talk to the tech when you go in for that first service. You can always have a good indi shop do the trans change as well. Most reputable shops should only charge you 1.0 to 1.5 hours in shop time - to change the manual trans fluid. Maybe three hours tops IF you have an DCT. Plus materials(trans oil, and new plugs).
