Because the A7/S7/RS7 are also called Sportbacks. It's just Audi's word for a hatchback.

Correct me if I'm wrong. Of those you mentioned, the only RS you can currently buy
new in the US market is the RS7. RS3 is a painful waiting game at this point, though it looks very promising.
I should've been more specific in stating that (IMO) it's a crime that the RS Avants are unavailable here. Though I do understand why.
