Over MSRP?
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com What is your CA telling you? What is your take? He could have been BSing me, I will talk to other dealerships as well, but he sounded like he knew what he was talking about. |

Yep, expect it. My local CA had guys offering $10k over sticker to buy one but alas, all my local dealer's allocations are gone.
I remember seeing $8k markups back in '08 when the E9X came out. And those markups stayed for a while (longer than 6 months). |

They won't charge car over MSRP. I don't think BMWFS has anything to do with dealer marking up new M cars. |

Lol - who goes to dealers for pricing.
This is not some exotic supercar or limited model. Plenty of discounts will be avail. Just not right away! Just look at what happened to the f10 M5 the first year it came out. |

Mark-up has always been a way of life for all of the higher end, most sought after cars. Good thing that dealerships like Steve Thomas BMW aren't playing that game.

This.
Ridiculous. It's just an M3. I repeat, just a silly, little, mass (and I mean MASS!) produced M3. People act like this car is a GT3 RS 4.0. If somebody told me I have to pay over sticker on a standard version M3, I'd seriously laugh and tell them to stick it. |

It is ridiculous. But people do it.
Good sense does not necessarily come with money. I'd be very surprised to see an M3/4 go for invoice (unless you really know the dealer well) for a bit. |

Well said. I'd feel like a naïve nerd if I paid $80k for a car that somebody else paid $70k for with identical options..

Yep get ready to get boned boys. Some will laugh and walk out while others will pay without hesitation. Dealers know this and greedy ones will surely expolit it. Go look at C7 vettes, all marked up to no end.

Im fairly new here on this on forum and have heard great things about Steve Thomas BMW. I bought my e46 m3 new at McKenna but from all the recomendations, i may have to go there for the f80.

The two BMW's I bought last year were from McKenna, but previously I purchased all of my cars at Shelly. I went to McKenna because my connects from Shelly are there now. I'm happy with the service I received there (..but I'm sure my happiness is more closely related to who I know rather than the dealership itself). I am 10 cars in with my connect, so I don't deal with 'new customer' bullshit.

I would never ever work with a dealer who marked up over msrp in order to gouge consumer in the first year of a model release. The same thing was happening when the E46 M3 came out after a several year hiatus. My dealer stuck to msrp even though they could've tried to gouge consumers.
There are plenty of dealers who will not mark up over msrp because they don't want their customers to feel bitter when they see the same car a year later being priced at "invoice plus". Take your business elsewhere. |

So even Steve Thomas is asking for MSRP? Just to be clear, everyone does understand that there is a significant difference between MSRP and dealer invoice and all these people I read about in this forum who is ordering the new Ms with this option and that option are actually OKAY with paying full MSRP on these cars?

Invoice based pricing may or may not begin in the second year when things loosen up a bit. But never, ever pay "msrp plus", unless you just dont give a crap and dont mind being made a fool. |

I never ever pay MSRP on anything because, even shoes I buy simply because I know MSRP already includes a significant mark-up. Think about it, if they can make a profit with below invoice price, how much do you think they are making with MSRP? LOTS! For what? So that you can drive a car in its first year with lots of bugs on top of being their beta tester for free. I got my current M3 1k below invoice! The dealership still made a lot of money on my sale. No thanks, I'll wait. |
