2015 M4 w/ DCT vs 2018 Mustang Gt PP1
Anyone have experience with a drag/roll race between these two? Assuming both cars are stock. My friend at work has a 2016 GT fitted with a 6 speed manual. We ran them the other day and I walked away from him putting about 1-1.5 car length on him. He was surprised by the result and after we parked he was pissed exclaiming, “ alright now my rich gf needs to buy me a blower. I did not expect to get beat that badly.” He also specifically mentioned that he buried the tach in the redline and shifted as fast as he could. Another friend of mine has a 2018 gt with the pp1 package and the 10 speed auto. I’m assuming the 2018 would be a closer race but would the M4 still be able to pull ahead? My group of friends debates this constantly, but we haven’t been able to test our hypotheses. We had one chance but the 2018 mustang guy sped off. 2018 Mustangs guy’s brother often says it will be very close or my m4 will lose. I can accept that, but I doubt the mustang can match the low end and high end torq of the s55. The mustang just doesnt put down the torque well. 2018 Mustang guys brother also said that I should run him after heat soaking my turbos and in 105 degree heat. Yes an obvious troll, but the guy doesn’t seem very confident in the mustang.... LOL
Pic for attention. |

I've never raced the 10 speed auto which are supposedly 10 second cars FBO. I raced a few manuals that were modded and with my stage 1 BM3 and a slow 3 pedal I pulled away easily. Like you said it's the way the S55 puts the torque down, I left it in 4th while the guy was in 3rd and fell behind every shift while I let one gear wind out. I have a couple of vids from my dash cams but don't want to incriminate myself

My stock 2016 dct m4 beats my boys 2019 mustang 10 speed pp1 GT
We're both stock he just has a cat back exhaust I win by half a car, sometimes I can't gap him but he never beats me it's always close with me having a slight upper hand We do 30-40mph rolls up to triple digits On a closed course, ofc #1 piece of advice for roll racing: Traction fully off + downshift into the lowest gear yourself before hitting throttle |

You are right. It’s fun to speculate though. Nothing like the good ol America vs Germany debate. After owning both, I prefer to side with ze Germans. |

I use MDM and make sure the tires are up to optimal temperature and I am able to grip no problem.
