F83 roof leak - anyone else seen this?

My convertible has developed a little drip after heavy rain or a downpour, the drip comes from the very corner of the headlining right near to the rubber seal and is only an occasional drip.

My guess is its coming from the join between the wind shield and the roof but all seems OK.

Has anyone seen this before and is there a way around it other than total new rubbers? Maybe adjustment?

Yes, I had a leak on my Z4 a few years back. Hydraulics had to be replaced entirely. Was done under warranty at the dealer

My F83 does not yet have this issue, but I had a 2009 E93 (with the exact same top btw, I think the seals did change though) and it had that exact issue.

The dealer replaced the seal around the front section with new, and no more problem.

The other thning they did is clean the drain in the a pillar w/ a pipecleanery looking thing while I watched. In the rubber seal that runs up the A pillar, there is a little hole in the top. That's a drain hole. It goes down to the bottom of that rubber seal. You might have that clogged up, if it backs up, it will leak there after that drain tube area fills up. They thought this was my problem, then replaced the top seal. BTW replacing the seal on the actual top sucks, it is held on with adhesive, they got it everywhere.

I have similar issue w/ my 2016 f83. Dropped it off at the dealer last month and they found the issue to be w/ shelf seals, window/module seal & butol chord.

After a car wash, leak still persists. Dropped it off again yesterday, we'll see what they say.

No leak here on a 2016 (knock on wood). You guys may have this already but I'll mention it in case. I apply this rubber care to help the rubber stay flexible and have a good seal. Does a good cleanup in the process.

The car has been with the dealer for 2 weeks now and they still can't seem to find the issue - luckily they can replicate the leak. They replaced all the passenger side seals and are currently waiting for BMW NA to send out a master tech.

SA said hes never seen this kind of issue before

No leak issues on 2018 or 2020. Couple of E93’s that we had required multiple seal replacements.

My f83 dumps water into the car at a carwash. I can see the water pouring over the window towards the a pillar then pouring into the car. Please keep us posted. I am unsure what I need to do to correct this. Luckily, my car never sits outside for long and i dont think it leaks in the rain. Pipe cleaner sounds like a good idea for the drain tube clog!

After my initial response, i've actually had to bring the car back in for a 3rd time due to the leak. This time its with the dealer over 33 days and counting.. My SA said they've been able to replicate the leak and have replaced every seal under the roof and are now double/triple checking everything and testing. I knew convertibles were a headache but come on..

The car is still under warranty and I purchased it CPOed 1 year ago, does anyone know if this issue qualifies for the CA lemon law?

When I get the invoice, i'll post back with all the part#s replaced.

I had 2 e93s and they both leaked in heavy rain, my f83 does not leak yet, there is a drain that can get clogged and cause it, try googling e93 drain clog

Imagine what this would cost if it wasn’t under warranty!?
I had a E93 and the only place it ever leaked was a little between front and rear windows and that was only in a car wash.

Did you ever get this resolved? I got my 2016 CPO 3 weeks ago and just noticed there is a leak from both rear C pillars. The driver side will leak when it rains and both sides will leak from the carwash. I'm planning on taking the car back to the BMW dealer I bought it from since I just found out that CPO warranty does not cover water leaks or body seals.

Couldnt locate the exact position of your leak, but mine 2017 had one at the exact corner of roof/windshield/passenger door window. Window was readjusted at dealer under warranty and since its dry, fingers kept crossed.

I've owned a few cabs, F83, E46, 996 and 991 with no leaks.

I used Gummi Pflege on tbt seals.
