The C63, in general, is an amazing car IMO. If it had a different transmission (a true DCT) that didn't overheat at the track, I would probably still own mine today.

Seeing as my future M4 is coming with 6MT, that's one of the reasons. But not the main reason. |

rather flattering review for the C63:
"Where the M4 feels like a faster, larger version of the M235i, the C63 AMG Edition 507 is like a cut-price mini-supercar." The M4 though scored on the fuel economy and up to date cabin

"Yet in this company it is lacking the connection and character that separates the good from truly great sports cars."
"Where the BMW M4 is admired, the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Edition 507 is adored." These two quotes say it all. Can't believe the E9x destoryed the C63, and now all of a sudden the new M3 is having trouble keeping up with the C63 that was not considered a great driver's car at the time. The M3 has become more competent but not as fun to drive. Hard to accept electric steering and turbos have detached the driver from the experience this much. Wish I could have the new body on my E9x, spend 20k to get a supercharger and Brembo brakes, and have a 'proper' sports car. I've test drove the M3 for the third time, definitely feels like a small M5, not what an M3 is supposed to feel like. It's disappointing. Glad I have a GT3 RS for that involved experience, but still finding it difficult to let go and get an M4 for a daily commuter. Oh well... First world problems. Time heals all. lol |

i don't really understand this review or the autocar one. this isn't apples to apples and it's going to be hard to compare an amg v8 with more power than the base c63 versus a twin turbo inline 6. the engine sound will create bias alone

It's comment like these that make me want to stick with my modded E92, I feel like it has that mini-supercar aura!

I honestly think if don't plan on doing track days or need a dual purpose car. The AMG is a better street car experience. The only downfall to the C63 507 is its on track abilities. Can it turn some quick laps, no doubt. It just isn't something I would want to take to the track every weekend. The new W205 C63 is going to one hell of a street car. The MCT gets some hate, but it's best attributes shine in day to day driving.

I get that the C63 amg edition 507 is a great car and has the best hand built V8 engine but is it that good that even with a crappy automatic transmission it's better than an M4?
I'm obviously bias because I own an M4 and have never driven a C63 but I feel that the final result of the C63 wining the comparison is unfair when the M4 wins in suspension, breaking, transmission, price($10k less), technology and fuel consumption

Sad day for the M division when you hear statements like this-
he BMW M4 is technically the better car, and it did indeed whip its cloak off and near-triple its original freeway fuel consumption. Compared with its older rival, it is just as fast but more efficient, has a better transmission, far more premium cabin, extra technology, superior ride comfort, it is quicker through bends and, subjectively, looks tougher. Yet in this company it is lacking the connection and character that separates the good from truly great sports cars. Where the M4 feels like a faster, larger version of the M235i, the C63 AMG Edition 507 is like a cut-price mini-supercar. Every tester walked away from it enamoured by just how special it makes you feel, from its bombastic engine to every control that talks to you, wherever you’re driving it and at whatever speed. It’s exactly enough to make you forgive its old cabin and hard ride. Where the BMW M4 is admired, the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Edition 507 is adored. As far as grand finales go, this one is both epic and dangerous – the precedent for the next turbo-V8 C63 has just been set for itself… |
