M3/M4 after 2 years? Noise, vibration, harshness
I drove a brand new 2017 M4 and loved it. Who doesn't ...
Then I had a chance to drive a used 2015 M4 with 26K miles and was surprised how "loose" the car felt. NVH symptoms reminded me of a moderately shaken Christmas tree. How is your M3/M4 holding up? |

I have a 2017 bought new but has 20k miles on it now. Only real creaks I hear are from my window seals rubbing on my tint. Still feels pretty stiff and put together.

2015 with 24k miles that I just bought. No noises
My 2013 F30 had 60k miles by the time I sold it and there were quite a few noises. Mainly the window trim and the lock rattle. Probably because I used the car all year and drove over rough pavement and backroads to work regularly.

2015 M4 with almost 90.000 KM and no vibrations or plastics making noise except for the occasional pebble getting stuck between the heat shield and the rotor. But nothing in the cabin that makes any noise.

Seals dry out and obviously things do loosen but if regularly serviced, wheel alignment done and seals lubricated etc it should stay quiet as a mouse. Like anything, leave it outside, don't get it serviced or aligned then it will start to feel loose and squeaky.

My 15 M4 was in great shape when the lease ended last summer. No issues whatsoever.

M3 F80 2018 with 20 inch wheels ZCP has noises i.e road bumps and of course concrete freeway vs more quiet asphalt smooth side streets. Sometimes more sometimes less. I am not bothered by it since it is an M car and expect it. Great times at Nurburgring = noisy daily driver.

My 2015 M4 (July 2014 build) is still as quiet (except engine and exhaust ) as the day I bought it new. No squeaks, no rattles, etc. Great car!!

I drove the other day no radio Quite and tight as a drum The cabin is not whisper quite and for good reason. M3 tires are wide as hell so there is a huge contact patch. The rear suspension is welded with minimal bushings in design etc. The car has the underpinnings of a performance car that is street legal. The more you push it the more that becomes clear. The car corners Flat and pulls like OMG!!! Effortless speed, handling and total performance!!! Ignore my garage it needs help |
