It's a cannibalized F30 prototype. It is cost effective to use existing bodies over the next generation chassis especially in this stage of development.
There are other cars like this each using each example of powerplant and less finished. Cosmetics are not important at this stage as this is about what is going on underneath.

Considering there might be no F25M I'd say F80 M3.

They did the same with the previous E60 M5 V10, chopped two cylinders off, tuned it, and put it in the E92 M3. I wouldn't be surprised if they did the same from the current F10 M5 (V8TT) to the future F80 M3 (V6 TT).

It always amazes me how many members make judgements about the design based on a highly camouflaged test mule. It's asinine at best.

You know, I started to pipe in with the tired drivel about 'oh no, a V6?!' but realized I've accepted a V8 in the M3, and that seemed just as silly as a V6 would have a few years ago. So I'm going to keep my mouth shut and wait and see what performance is like. Maybe with a V6 they could actually accomplish a rearward weight bias. |

Maybe south. But, if there is, then it could arrive on the scene first. After all, the X3 has been on the market for awhile now, so an M version could have had a lot of lead time.

Then again, Scott just said there should be spyshots of the X3M soon, so ignore everything I've just said. ![]() Best regards, south
