I wouldn't be too disappointed in the power output being near identical to the S65 folks. The usable torque band on this car is going to make it a monster at highway acceleration without downshifting. Not to mention a right hoot to kick the tail out in.

My estimation : This engine feels like a Corvette LS3, and I'm okay with that!

I am having a really hard time believing it would only have 415 hp. It would certainly hurt sales and with a 3 liter turbo 450 hp shouldnt be an problem. It would be a lot more desirable. Im gonna beliave the 450 hp rumors in europe instead untill im convinced

i'm not so much worried about the hp staying the same if they actually drop 200+ lbs. but how are they going to get to 3400, when the 335i is 3500?

Since the F30 is already lighter to begin with. I would be surprised if they could shave off 100 lbs max off the F30 335i. The 335i comes in at 3,550 lbs. I know people keep screaming carbon fiber this and that. But honestly it is not going to add up to the weight savings some think. For instance, the current M3's carbon roof only saves 11 lbs over a standard none sunroof M3. Replacing the aluminum hood with a carbon piece would net maybe ~10 lbs. Guess I am being a realist, trying to figure where exactly this massive diet is coming from.

To be honest that trend is no longer happening. I believe with you 100%, in that past that has been a true statement. But comparos as of late, BMW's have not been taking the win. In some instances they are getting last place. Those comparos just are not posted on the front page of this website.

I have never driven a turbo engine that felt like an LS3. Now that would be a first.

I hope they get the cooling system down. My N54 was always great for making eggs at the track between sessions.

So much bs speculation lmao, but hey I guess that's why people have forums lol...

I'd be happy to see 415hp/395trq and at the targeted weight. The at would be an absolute beast easily putting down a low 12s pass on the 1/4.

On the other hand it's likely more realistic that hp to wheels will be a little higher than current M3, but that weight will be a max of 100lbs lost.

They'd literally have to make half the cars parts in CF to shave 300lbs. Doors, panels, fenders, hood, roof and trunk. What they should focus on for the future is the frame of the vehicle and making the majority of construction in CF.

Alas, I can't afford a $90k sticker anyways haha. So this is all a dream for me only to be made reality when the car is used and in the market for 3-4yrs.

Let's be realistic people, BMW is not going to release the next M3/M4 with the same amount of horse power as the current gen.

I'm guessing a minimum of +25hp a long with the torque increase

the turbo engine will yield greater power from tuning. This car will be pack a punch with a "light" tune.

You won't get that from the S65B40

I guess you've never owned a tuned N54

The platform they will be building the M3/M4 is completely different from the F30/F32. It is the F80/F82 platform. It will be significantly less heavier.

I was going to say something similar. After DCT, a locking diff, bigger brakes, a stiffer chassis.....I don't see it coming in lighter than a 335i.

Unless the F32 is substantially lighter than the F30, I don't see 3400lbs as being a reality.

Now if they targeted a lighter car to limit any weight gain of a new car, but end up falling a bit short, I'm fine with that.
