I called up BMW Canada, and they said my M4 order was accepted and production hasn't started yet! I am supposed to take delivery at the end of July. Is this wishful thinking?

How long does an M4 take to build from start to finish in production? 4 weeks?

Once the build is complete, how long does it take to get to the dealership in Canada? 2 weeks?

I'm guessing I won't get my car until sometime in August! This wait is killing me!!

I don't know exactly how long it took for mine but here is my time frame

Scheduled week 24 production. Confirmation received June 13 that my car was done and enroute to port.

According to the ocean carrier website (Wallenius) I checked on June 18 and it showed my car departed Bremerhaven on June 17. ETA Halifax June 30. I expect another 10-14 days to Calgary. I am guessing mid July delivery.

In total I would expect 5 weeks from start to delivery. Hope this helps.

From what I've heard, it takes about a week for the car to go through the production line. The rest on the wait time is generally the shipping process from Germany to port.

Thanks, this is helpful. I would imagine 4-6 weeks from start to delivery is realistic, assuming there are no delays with shipping etc.

Pretty amazing how they can crank out cars on the production line so quickly! Hoping I get a nice, well made example!

What is your build if you don't mind sharing?

I ordered all options except MDCT & CCB. Sakhir Orange on Silverstone Full Leather.

Hey guys. Mine went into production today!! From your experiences what can I expect in terms of timing? About a week until it makes it to the port? Where are you checking the ship schedules? I'm wondering which ship I may be on... next week?

Congrats. So after productions is done it is about 5-6 weeks (usually) till delivery. Since you are in TO it may be a bit faster transit.

As for checking the ship it will most likely be on a Wallenius vessel

You can trace on this page: https://att.2wglobal.com/gstattweb/o...uickSearchPage

Type in your VIN number in "Cargo ID". It will show you what you want to know. Then it should load onto CN rail. However CN rail requires login for any tracing.

Hiya E92LNGCGY - thanks for the informative reply, really appreciate it. If it went into production today do you think it leaving on the Don Juan on July 2nd is too optimistic? If so I'm hoping maybe it will make it on the Torrens on July 8. There seems to be a ship leaving every week from Bremerhaven (is that the correct port that they leave from in Germany?).

Argh the wait is killing me!!!!!

Cheers

I would guess July 8 would be the ship. Yes Bremerhaven port is correct.

I agree - July 8th on the Torrens is more likely. I had a production week 25 car and it just got onto the Independence II that left Bremerhaven yesterday. My schedule was:
Jun 9-14: car in production
Jun 16: notified car production complete
Jun 18: notified car left factory
Jun 25: Independence II leaves B'haven with car

I am in Halifax and was told almost two weeks ago that my SO M4 was built and sitting on the dock in Germany for release. Do you think it will be on the June 30th arrival in Halifax ship? My dealer keeps saying it's on it's way

Do you have a VIN? If so check on Wallenius website. I have the link posted in previous messages.

I was in a similar situation and my car just appeared on the Wallenius website this morning on the Independence II after 10 days of getting "no record found"

Hey Hearhead and Dundas. When did you order your cars. If I have my VIN, does that mean it is built.?

I think the cars are serialized before they go to production.I got my serial number the day that it got on the boat as I was too busy to chase it down before that.
