Carplay ...again! Problem...
Hi all!
New member here. Just picked up a 2020 M4CS and having trouble the wireless Apple Carplay Here are some points: - there is a factory option to connect to carplay - I have done the hard reset (holding the power button down for 70+ seconds and the screen reboots twice - everytime I try and connect, it goes through the usual motions where the unit asks to be paired with the iphone, and vice versa, so I click yes, etc etc but it goes reaches the "establishing connection" bit and goes for a while and then says failed to connect. Everytime Anyone have any tips? |

I had a similar issue with my G87 M2 but a hard rest of the head unit fixed that right away. No such luck with the M4CS |

Ask your friend to try to pair. If it still fails then you know for sure it’s the car. There is an update you can do to get the full screen CarPlay which might also fix your issue.

There’s a guy on here kubax86 who can sell you the Apple CarPlay full screen. There is an update needed to get fullscreen to work. But like I mentioned before, have a friend pair it first and see if it’s really the car or the phone.
Or if you want full screen Apple CarPlay just to ask Kubax haha. |

Good instruction when it doesn't work
"Do it the following way: Make sure WiFi, Siri, Bluetooth are ON and Hotspot is disabled. Go to MEDiA -> MANAGE MOBILE DEVICES -> ADD NEW DEVICE -> APPLE CARPLAY On your phone go to Bluetooth and delete the car, then go back and again to Bluetooth and wait until your iPhone finds the car. Go through the pairing procedure and once you get pop up „Use CarPlay” on your iPhone, click „Use CarPlay” and after that immediately go to WiFi settings on your iPhone and choose CarPlay network (it will have CarPlay in the name). That’s it. Pairing done. You’re ready to use Apple CarPlay and enjoy "

I've used Bimmer Remote Coding to not only restore full screen Apple Car Play but also to update my navigation system to a 2023/2024 map update. I couldn't be happier with the results. Also, Bimmer Remote Coding is a cheaper solution than Bimmer Tech.
