New turbo install - oil starvation?

Is there a way to prevent possible oil starvation after installing a new set of turbos? about to do this job and the only worry I have is starting the car up after install.

any advice appreciated

Don’t worry too much about it, just make sure you use some Liqui Moly turbo additives before installation, remove fuel pump relay and crack the engine over a couple of times and you should be good. I just did mine.

Probably not, if you don’t have the time to wait on that. Depending on the turbo you bought, my Mosselman came with lube, if yours came with any. You should be fine using whatever the manufacturer sends you.

Theres a couple ways to do this. I replaced by oil filter housing gasket and did this:
I removed fuse 165 and started the car and let it die before doing any work.

After all the work is done, disconnect the 6 fuel injector connectors and crank the car for 10 secs and take a 20 sec cool down break. Repeat this two more times and then connect the fuel injector connectors and install the fuse again.

You can remove sparkplugs and disconnect the injector connectors as written in the above TSB if you want. If your car isnt charged up, you may want to charge the car before cranking.

Goodluck on the new turbos.

Id probably loosen or pull the spark plugs as well, I've heard cycling the engine can push enough air through the exhaust to spin the turbo. Over thinking? Maybe, but couldn't hurt.

I used bmw turbo additive and pulled plugs, disconnected coils and disconnected injectors and cranked a few times. if you have bootmod or mhd you should be able to see oil pressure building in the ap.

So you didn’t remove any fuses or mess with the fuel relay?

Just plugs, coils injectors?

Are the injectors necessary?

Is there no way to just cycle the oil like you can cycle the coolant?

I have a vacuum hand pump, but idk where I’d hook it up to to push the air out.

That's right. With the injectors unclipped and coils and plugs pulled no fuel or spark so it will spin freely.

I think the risk with pulling fuses is there is still some fuel in the line. If you pull the fuse amd run it dry first you might be ok.

So i tried pulling the fuel pump fuse and letting it die. I do no recommend this method anymore. There still seems to be pressure and after letting the car die 6 times, it would still fire up and quickly die.

I instead i followed BMWs instructions for engine repair. Remove coil and fuel injector connectors and crank that way. Pulling spark plugs should help the car with less resistance but i dont think its necessary in my opinion. We crank the car all the time with the spark plugs in. We just need the starter to move the oil pump to circulate the oil to remove some of the air pockets left from repairs.
