Help with Ultimate Package (Canada) Warrantee
Hi all. Need some help with a warranty issue.
I bought my M4 in Canada in 2018. I got the Ultimate Package. As far as I remember the package was “all boxes ticked”. My question is about the sports exhaust that the package comes with. From what I can glean from the internet the exhaust system should be the “M sports exhaust system with black chrome tailpipes”. My car has these tailpipes. My situation: there is a crack in one of the welds on my exhaust. It is still under warranty. The dealer I bought it from says that that type of exhaust (M sports) wasn’t supposed to be on my car and is quibbling about fixing it. My bill of sale clearly says ZUQ - Ultimate Package. Is there any place I can find an official BMW list of what the Uktimate Package was supposed to include? Thanks in advance!

Not for Canada. Did you even look at the order guide from the previous post?

Thanks for this.
My car is MY 2018. Do you have one for that year? I’m looking all over the internet. The Canadian build sheets are tough to find.

M performance exhaust was definitely included on ultimate package for Canadian build.
The ultimate package was essentially everything thrown at it. Including port added options like MP front lip, MP side mirrors and MP titanium exhaust. I believe it even included individual paint color of your choice |

MPE version 1 is known to crack. One additional support per side needs to be welded to the MPE as well as having the existing cracks rewelded. I’d be surprised if this was covered under a “goodwill” because your factory warranty expired two years ago and none were repelled. Not all dealerships have a qualified welder. BMW while under warranty would typically replace, not reweld, the MPE.

I got a 7 year extended warranty, so I think I have some time left on it but not lots. When do the warranties start? At pickup? I ordered my vehicle in 2017 before it was built in Germany.

The BMW factory warranty is 4 years/50000 miles, which ever comes first, and starts the day the car is purchased/registered for use on the street. So your factory warranty ended on sometime in 2022. However your car may have a limited extended/aftermarket warranty if the original owner purchased one from BMW before the factory warranty expired or there’s potentially limited aftermarket warranty. Some used car dealers will offer a 1 year/12000 mile warranty but not all do. Were you told at the time of purchase there’s a warranty or did you purchase a used car warranty? |

Yes. I bought the car new from the dealer. I paid for a 7 year extended warranty at the time of purchase from the BMW dealer. It’s on my paperwork. It cost a pretty penny but it has been worth it so far because there have been one or two problems that would have cost a bunch to pay for out of pocket.

I can confirm MPE comes with Canadian Ultimate package. Also 2018 here and 3 years in had a rattle, wasn't cracked and dealership replaced whole exhaust ( got MPE V2 with reinforcement, cat back). Even included 4 new CF tips which really surprised me, considering they weren't a problem and the price was $400 a piece. Seen some instances online where some others would replace just a muffler due to cracking, keeping rest of the old parts on the car.
I'm guessing your dealership's next excuse will be how muffler isn't covered with extended warranty which could be the case so try to find that info somewhere to be ready for a fight. Or just go somewhere else since those guys don't sound helpful and are not familiar with options that car came with. |
