...and, yet, nobody talks about a full LED/OLED dash. Wouldn't you want a fully configurable dash with a custom layout of your preferred gauges combined with Nav, etc? There's something to be said for clean analog simplicity, but given what is happening with displays in the CE space and data in cars, there is the potential to do some pretty interesting, customizable updates to the cockpit metaphors.

I've added an old 7" tablet to my E36 to give me visibility to a variety of PIDs from my OBD reader, including improved temperature, voltage, etc.I can toggle to a secondary gauge set if I have a misfire (that happens with 20 year old cars) to isolate the problem.

Assuming you are in England as in the country in Europe, you should have them very soon if not already. I believe folks in your region have already started ordering cars for March production. Check the UK and/or ordering subforums.

It is terrible that BMW doesn't offer Android Auto yet. Especially when their CEO was quoted as saying that they would over a year ago:

Fundamentally there's no technical reason for BMW not to have it, as the functionality is similar to CarPlay which BMW does offer. The issue is political, as they don't want to share user data with Google. The BMW CEO mentioned the issue in the link: "Obviously, it is not in the interest of our customers to give third-party providers access to their data. For us, the protection of our customers’ data is top priority."

Porsche is taking the same stance with Google btw.
