It certainly seems this way. The aftermarket clearly took in to account the issues with the stock 437M 19".

Inner.

Barrel.

Diameter.

It's as simple as that. Aftermarket wheels are built to width/offset specifications. They're not always built for a specific vehicle, so I doubt too many manufacturers looked at this issue specifically. More likely, most aftermarket wheels have a larger inner barrel diameter, because they need to fit a variety of vehicles, which may have a BBK or larger brakes than the CCBs on the M3/4.

My GTS doesn't even have break-in miles completed and the left front inner barrel has a sizable scratch. And, what an awful, paralyzing sound when it picked up the small pebble. So, replace the wheel and expect it to happen again. Bullshit! I'll see the Service Manager later this week.

Yikes, on the GTS nonetheless.

I'm pissed off at the design flaw on an 80k vehicle I'd be livid on a 140k vehicle.

It is not a design flaw !!!

Any car (not just the F8x) with big brakes can get road debris going in between the wheels and the calipers, and scratch the wheels and top portion of the calipers.

Check all the F430 Challenge cars that are actively racing, the 997 GT3 Cups, the 997 GT3 street cars with PCCB running 18" wheels, they all go through this, but their owners don't post about design flaws.

Name a PRODUCTION car that was released (In the last 15 years) with such minimal clearance between the brake caliper and inner barrel of the wheel that it scratches the shit out of it.

The GT3 owners are buying those 18" wheels for track duty knowing they will get worn and torn. A stock GT3 does not have this issue I guarantee you that.
A stock 430 did not have this issue, a stock 458 did not have this issue.

I've gotten plenty of rocks stuck between my wheels and caliper. My inner barrel are pretty scratched. I'm running BBS Fi and let me tell you we are only talking about paper thin clearance. Will post pics soon.

The main drawback of a larger inner barrel diameter is that it usually results in a heavier wheel.

I switched to 20" wheels and was much happier in terms of clearance and "the pebble issue". Since then have swapped out of CCB entirely and now looking to get back on 19's. Hence the 20" HRE's that I am trying to sell. If you have CCB's do yourself a favor and try 20's....they really should be OEM.

Does anyone even make a bolt on caliper upgrade for BMW CCB? I really doubt it.

Do the BBS Fi-r's have enough clearence in 19's? Id hate to spend all that money on those wheels and have em get damaged as well. Looks like i'll be keeping the style 666m wheel for a while.

I recently just purchased a set of 19" FiR and clearence is still pretty tight. Don't have exact measurements but a lot more than my FI for sure haha. So far so good no issues with rocks getting stuck.

That's correct. OEM inner barrel clearance is very tight. Our wheel designs factored in CCB and BBK, so we have one of the largest inner barrel possible.

Not true on larger inner barrel means heavier weight. Example, Signature 19" Full Forged Monoblock SV104 are 19.5LB front and 20.5LB rear.

19" SV103 on F80 with CCB (more inner barrel clearance compared to OEM):

18" SV103 on a Z06 with 394mm CCB (GM told us it would not be possible to fit 18" on a CCB Z06 ):

Ever wonder how CCB are made???

Both??? Wow, congrats Mikey, must be some sort of record. Lol, at least you've got a bit of a sense of humour over the issue. Still perplexed, especially amongst our old group, that BMW Canada isn't doing anything about it. Did you call??

Had the car up on a lift recently and took this. CCB clearance on 19 FI-R. When I swapped them off to put my 666s back on, there weren't any black marks where the chunks of tire would have hit the caliper as well as no scratches on the barrel

I didn't not call. Perhaps I should...do you have the phone number?

I know with my F80 I sent an email to one of our mutual contacts, but didn't even get a reply. :/
