I haven't looked at M3/4's options list, but I am fairly certain you can both the climate screen and HUD at the same time.
Edit: I was able to configure M4 with both climate screen and HUD on the BMW Taiwan website, plus I have both on my M5, so I do not believe you can only have one but not the other.

Climate screen isn't even an option here for the M3/M4. Might be against US DOT regulations
