I'll go find my laptop and check out the google sketch. All I want is new pics of the outside of a house I'm going to have to buy so I can get the windows right so I can actually ask makers for quotes. It's so fucking cold here right now I cant even disappear in the woods with the dogs to avoid this project. I'm being a complete twat and I have no reason to object to buying the house the spouse wants, especially when I like how easily I could modify it to my liking. I've reached a new level of stubbornness and at some point my stupid excuses will be overruled and if I don't actually start putting real effort in to this: I will be replaced with a horde of professional construction people.

I like the new digs!
Well, despite being bummed I'm no longer hobnobbing in Majorca (Madrid blows BTWs), here's what's up: I heard from probably my 30th Dinan loser yesterday. It's probably more like 50, but I'll say 30. In this case, the guy had a really tastefully modded F30 and got Dinan to preserve the warranty ... oops. So last November he pulled out from a parking lot after lunch, pulled up to a light, stopped and the car died. Long story short, blown engine. and this is not a guy who money shifted or drives crazy. BMWNA said because he had Dinan, no warranty. Dinan said they'd cover it if BMWNA sends them a letter stating that Dinan caused the problem - which, of course, BMWNA would be fucking crazy to do so without that Dinan is refusing repairs. So his car has been sitting broken since November. In any event, albeit anecdotally, that's like 30 Dinan loses to 0 wins. I've only heard of Dinan honoring repairs online - with all of the people I run with there are zero people who've gotten Dinan to honor the warranty. And remember, I live 40 minutes from Dinan HQ. And in an ironic turn of events, this particular guy knows Steve Dinan who told him in the old days he'd have fixed it no problem, but the new management doesn't see things the same way. |

Too bad about the dinan thing. Sounds like they've done an epic job marketing with basically no responsibility to follow through.

Here are some pics from the Spanish Sequestration...
Not the best pics as I went super light (no DSLR, 28 hours of travel each way!), but even with a cell it was hard to take a bad pic, but my wife wouldn't let me photoblog either so I had to sneak them in On the way out I was able to grab a sunset pic of Rainier Majorca is a stunning island (off the east coast of Spain in the Med) Here's the main city on the island, Palma. There's a lot of business and industry here for a mostly bucolic island. Downtown Palma feels like most continental European cities Did you see the le Carré mini-series Night Manager? It's great btw, and House's evil lair is a property on Mallorca. I wanted to drive out but there was construction so we wussed out. Here's internet pictures of the evil lair Looking much less impressive, this is it. It's the hump on the right of the pic in front of the larger foothills in the background. Whatever. It was something to do. BTW, this was the offseason, and the airport was terrifyingly large, but blissfully empty. I can't even imagine summer. It would be a catastrophe. Go in the off-season. Here's a sculpture in the airport (Majorca has sculpture EVERYWHERE) that has had the boobs rubbed so many times by so many ravers that the bronzing wore off. But seriously there's sculpture everywhere. Literally on the sides of roads. Majorca has fucking good ham <- KITH. Majorca specializes in Jamon and you can buy it by the leg in every store. The weird thing is, the place is 99% farms and I saw donkeys, chickens, sheep, but zero pigs. On Valentines day I found a heart shaped German potato. Majorca also has a lot of Germans. I heard more German than Spanish. They have special German stores and whole drug store chain called Mueller which is awesome and all German. The property we stayed at was a landscape architect's dream. They literally cut the marble out of the side of a mountain and rearranged it to make the place. And the architects used the natural mountain run-off to build water flow into the property everywhere. It was basically like walking within one big waterfall - really well done. KidsCollege knows water is the enemy, so I'm impressed with how they used it well here. Normally we don't go for the patio rooms but the desk people conned us into it and I'm glad they did, it was awesome. We actually had 3 different patio areas and the way the property is designed there's hardly ever anyone that goes by except us. it was surprisingly nice to lay out or have happy hour on the patio. any place that has falconry as a routine activity is a winner in my view We also spent some time in Madrid. FYI, the rains in Spain really do fall mainly on the plain. Madrid has catholic churches EVERYWHERE If they can jam a church into an intersection they'll totally do it. count on it. Madrid also has some historical junk. Here's a horse guy by a house or palace or something. I guess it's pretty obvious I'm a big history buff. The palace seemed unnecessarily largeIn the distance you can see an interesting dome thing here's shitty close up of the dome thing The palace grounds also has some stone dudes Welp, that's it! Hope everyone is doing grand!

Your shots rocks. The shades, ah, the shades.
I have to look at those on a bigger screen than a phone as usual, but those food pics were cruel!

In other car news, I did my first post-1200 run in the ZCP ... I'll do a full write up soon, and the car is way better than the non-zcp plus the 2018 electronics and stuff are WAY better. Overall it's a great refresh and really feels like a new car.
* Can you feel extra horsepower? Nope. * Anything weird? Yeah: some floaty / tramliney stuff very occasionally. at first I thought it was just a particular section of road, but then it happened in a few other places. It will require more research. * Anything else? I fucking HATE the burbles. They're ridiculous. It's like BMW is completely invested in ruining sports car sounds. They're so innovative at it. First it was just the shitty sound. Then they added fake electronic sounds. Then they added fake popping fart sounds. I'm waiting for them to add a crying baby. It's basically this in a M4 |

1. Why is that statues boobs shinier than the rest? 2. Love it when they can use a stream and make it cool with the landscape. They had no recirculating pumps? Just natural flow? Cool! 3. Spaniards/mexicans know how to do pig...but my guess is, it's like making sausage you don't want to see it made...hence why you don't see any pigs around? Awesome pics! |

Mallorca and Ibiza are huge with House music, rave parties, and general hedonistic debauchery. Except in the off season when the old people who can't deal with hangovers anymore come through. It was really weird - the beach towns all had these wide roads and huge security fenced in parking lots that were totally empty. In the summer it must be insane. |

Were having a winter break here next week. The kids ran off to grandma since I might have been ready for murders after the endless defeats with the drawing SW only to be returned today since apparently everyone is celebrating these days off from school with a fever!
So, I am going to pretend I found the google sketch on my own with no help from anyone and attempt number five will be on its way. If this ends up as a disaster too, I'm going to do the brave thing and cry in silence while never attempting to be anal about budgets again.

Makes me want to go there for my first time. Next year for the wife’s 40th she wants to go to Ireland. Which means we’ll go to Scotland/UK as well. It sounds fun, but I’ve been pushing Spain and I was hoping his pics would change her mind.

You're going to have to deal with it. You're going to have to deal with the fact that Trudeau now has the sex appeal of a dial tone. There was a time when the mere sound of the word "true" would send your heart a-flutter. But that time is gone. It's over. There is no more sexy Trudeau. Now there is only this Trudeau Namaste Lups, Namaste. |
