It looks the same to me in terms of darkness, but sparkling graphite has more red in the metallic flake, and mineral grey has a cooler hue to it with more blues in the flake.

I parked my old Mineral grey f30 next to a SG e90 and really scrutinized the difference

I'm partial to Space Grey and would consider it again in the future if it was offered. Mineral Grey is way too dark. They should really just call it Midnight Grey. The first offering wave of colors for this car is very disappointing. I'm sure they will get it right MY2016 or 2017.

+1 I looked at some space grey pictures and black wheels look great with it. Always thought black wheels were silly but I wanna do something different for my next car. I have palladium silver now which is fairly similar to space grey and love it. I hope they come out with more color options next year, mineral grey is too dark for my taste, especially if I get black wheels

I really wish they would offer Singapore Grey. It has so much depth and complexity to it.

I would have preferred Singapore but I definitely prefer MG over Space. Space is so common on E9x around here.

Wow that's a lot of E9x.

I don't want to offend anyone by this statement BUT... I went to look at an e9x to drive until the F82 came out as I don't have a car and lost my early allocation when I switched from M3 to M4. The E9x is starting to look pretty dated already IMO. E46 are like classic cars now lol.

Yeah. I purchased an '08 Interlagos Blue sedan after trading in my '06 Topaz Blue 330i. The '08 was then traded for an '09 M3 coupe, which I later sold to a family member. I then purchased an '11.5 Alpine White M3 coupe which I kept until I purchased the '13 X5/'14 335i. Now I'm anxiously awaiting the F8X! Woot!

I agree about your "dated" comment. It's really weird though. For me, it really depends on color and options. For example, most of the time I overlook the E46 ///M3 (..I've owned two!), but when I see an IB ZCP, it catches my attention IMMEDIATELY, and I instantly start missing my '05 ZCP. I don't pay much attention to the E9X much these days either (..and not because it's not a gem of a car, but it's like seeing the girl you dated for 5 years; eventually you see her and kinda just roll your eyes), but when I see a nicely optioned ZCP coupe or sedan in IB/CB/SG, it catches my eye. Maybe it's the combination of the body styles with the ZCP wheels.....which I absolutely love!

I guess I could extrapolate that even further. I overlook most F3X cars, but when an Estoril Blue or Alpine White F30 335i rolls by me, it catches my attention.

Jus went to dealers today

MG looks great in person, very metallic, and sportier (subjective) than the lighter Space Grey. Maybe 10% lighter than Sparkling Graphite looking side by side in the sun, but could be described as the same darkness just different hues.

3 Series GT is an abomination btw (sorry to any owners)

Why on earth did they cease this color? The ultimate M3 color in my eyes. I struggled with liking Space Gray, then SSii on the e9x. This is perfection. If they released this color again, I'd buy a new M3 and M4. Hello BMW, is there anybody out there? Mineral Gray, meh!!!

This is silliness. You guys seriously need to go to a dealer lot and look at MG in person rather than photos. I was at the dealer last weekend and there was a Singapore Grey beside a mineral grey and it was a HUGE difference. MG is so much lighter, that it looks almost 1/2 way to white. I need to go back there and take the pic because statements like 10% lighter are just way off..

Definitely NOT... Go to any BMW lot and look at one of the many MG 3 or 4 series on the lot.. they are very light, very plain looking.
The statement about MG being very light is completely false. I leased a MG f30 for 1 year and found the color to be very dark unless in mid-day sunlight in which it changes drastically. This picture is an acurate portayal of the color in artificial light (like a parking structure) based on my ownership, and taking hundreds of photos of my car in various lighting situations.

Saying this color is "light" couldn't be further from the truth.

Reference MG Rendering:

More renderings I did with alternate variations of colors I like:

Pics of my old F30 in Mineral Grey:

Do you think you could make the break calipers red on the AW car by any chance? I'm considering doing that at some point

Excuse me? Good grief you need to learn to read better; I was comparing MG to SPARKLING GRAPHITE. I was at a dealer yesterday which is why I posted. There was not a Singapore Grey there but I've stated in the past that Singapore is easily the darkest, but that's neither here nor there is it...

my interpretation (p-shopped) of how it would appear in natural light based on the color of a MG 3-er under similar light conditions.

Im sold on MG, always liked Sparkling Graphite (minus the purple-ish hue) but could only get Space Grey when I bought my LCI.

Thats exactly what I have been telling everyone!! MG is not a nice color IMO....Looks nothing like the stunning Singapore Grey
