I would doubt it though, since the DCT on the F8X is an "off the shelf" unit.

I hear you but I'm not doubting anything with this model.

Not a chance. Neither E46 CSL or M3 GTS came in manual. This will be DCT only.

the gearbox from what i understand will have the original clutch pack, a shorter final drive (diff) is where they could gain from tight gearing.

Agreed. Overall disappointed with DCT gearing and the main reason I went 6mt on my M4. "Regular" DCT wouldn't be a deal breaker but shorter final drive would only benefit a car like that.

I've test drive a dct, and a close friend had a manual, very impressive with both, well judged imho. i feel like with the 8zhp in my 7, that the car just hunts too much for gears....... that being said, the power band of the s55 is broad enough that gearing isn't as important imho.

It might be able to compete with a 2010 GT3 when it comes out though. Mind you the last m3 GTS new in 2010 barely competed with a 996 gt3/RS from 1999. Will be no different again. |

The GTS, while very special, still isn't designed to compete with the GT3. It's supposed to be a rare M car that's more track suited from the showroom, nothing more.

We agree! It will if it's lucky match a 997 GT3 since the last GTS in 2010 barely matched a 1999 GT3/RS.
I think in all likelihood, the car will be rated at 475-480 hp and be around 3500 lbs. |
