You sure about that? It was my understanding that all EDs on the M3/4 were, and still are, coming out of the dealer's allocation.

You are correct M3/M4 are still coming from dealer allocation. I was hoping that would change by this summer, but it's not looking good.

Yes.

ED cars are coming out of dealer allocation initially, but the allocation is credited back to the dealer at the end of the month by BMW NA. Dealer reps like to omit the second fact in pressing you to bump up their margins on ED orders. Confirmed the above with my BMW NA contacts.

If you are doing ED, you definitely want to work with someone who has done a few ED orders before. It's more paperwork, and you don't want our order to become a guinea pig for a sales rep who is not familiar with ED process.

YMMV,
a

How does this deal on a M4 look to you guys?

MSRP: $76,575
Dealer dicsount: $4,000
Purchase Price: $72,575

Edmunds and TrueCar are showing the invoice of this car at $70,410. This would be a purchase (not lease) and the dealer doesnt have the car on their lot, they have to obtain it from another dealer who has it. I was trying to get closer to invoice pricing but it's been tough with the dealers in CT and MA.

Hi,

I placed an order on 12/22 for an MGM/Full SO F83, all options except for CCB and added in the black grills.

MSRP is $91485
Paid $85638

I was able to get the .00081 MF with MSDs. Total monthly is $930 for 10k/39m with tax/fees/first payment paid upfront (6k).

My question is this. The dealer sent me my order number on 12/24 and I was able to add it to my profile on bmwusa.com, but when I call the number to find my TPW, they say the order has been received with no build date assigned. Is this because of dealer allocation issues or parts constraint?

Thanks

Most likely dealer allocation. You have to ask your dealer if you have been assigned a spot in their monthly allocations. You could be on the dealer wait list with people before you in queue. They will know how many slots they have for this month (and also should know Feb). They also know how many orders they have ahead of you.

They told me that I would have the car in 6-8 weeks, which they were adamant about, so I am guessing no one was in front of me. They are a pretty high volume dealer (open road in NJ).

Sounds like they had an allocation. Have you spoken to a rep? They are able to get more info than the automated system will give.

That's not an awful discount. Maybe say 72k and see if they take it? You could always go directly to the dealer with the car if you know who it is.

I spoke to him and he said it went into production at the beginning of this week. Hopefully that is correct.

Thanks

I completely forgot about that. I remember hearing that in the past. So if I have this right, whatever model you choose for ED comes out of the dealers allocation for the month produced. Then once the month is over they get the allocation for that exact car back the next month. The only loss to the dealer is a delay on a non ED sale. So for a small delay they still get the original model to the dealer for US sale and whatever "free" profit on the ED car.
ED is a great deal for everyone.
ED not from allocation is still better for the dealer though because there is no delayed gratification. Its an extra sale that doesn't interrupt the influx of cars.

Eh, I'll believe it when I see it. Plus, it is a convertible, so no CF delays with it.

Got it for invoice minus applicable incentives at time of delivery. Very happy working with my local dealer so far.

Not getting my hopes up too high. We have a week 9 production, but with the delays and all that I'm not so sure anymore.

My plan was to order in April/May though a 2016 is very tempting. I could probably wait the extra few months. Hopefully BMW is all caught up on delay's by this time. I'll definitely look you guys up.

Yeah, I think that i'm going to hold out for more money off. I looked on Truecar and if their invoice prices are correct, it's about $2k over invoice at $72,500.

Last question (for now). The printout that my CA sent me with my production number also had the status listed as "112 - Scheduled for Daily". This was on 12/24.

Does that mean I skipped the whole waiting for a build week thing?

Thanks again!

You can sit in status 112 for months if there is a delay. You want to move to 150 as you are no longer scheduled for daily and are in production. Until that time, anything can happen including reverting back to status 111. Been there done that...

Good luck

If it's June then I can definitely get a '16 ED in late July/early August.

Who in SoCal can do ED that's done it a few times (Except SteveThomas... they said they'll only do MSRP and no discount).
