Read the whole thread, no real reason why LED is better other than you get automatic high beams. I had this in my CLS63 and it was great, but I don't really need it, especially for $2K.
The other advantage is that it may look better for some. Well, that means I do not need it since I am driving the car from the inside and don't care what others see from outside. Think of this, when you are not driving the car, say in your garage, you do not see those LEDs light up. If you buy them for looks, you are essentially paying for other people to look and be impressed with your car. Nor for me. |

You know you guys can argue left and right how every single option isn't "really worth it" for this car and I've seen god knows how many threads doing that. But as someone else said you have to pay to play. The only option on this car that mostly everyone could do without are the CCBs if you can't stomach the 8k. But come on. This is a now 80k car not a honda civic. Everything can't come standard or dirt cheap. People on ferraris are paying 3k for carbon fiber cup holders and not bi**ing about it.
The LEDs look great and I for one having used them on a 650xi will definitely select this option. I can tell you from experience they look much nicer and illuminate better than xenons. Again pay to play. |

I would even like to have more choice. Having the possibility to individually select the options like they can in Europe instead of having options bundled in "packages" would have been nice. It is healthy to have some debate over the different options so we can better understand the benefits of each a take a more educated decision during our purchase. But, IMO, there is no such thing as a must have option. No one is "stupid" if they pick or not one option or the other as some here sometimes imply. It is all a question of personal choice and what each individual wants to do with his money. |

But probably if BMW did it that way they would be like porsche and add 20k to the sticker price then people would complain about that. |

Granted they are getting up their in price. But compared to Mercedes it is still less. I think audi still has the edge on them in options but now BMW is becoming a better car. But I'm sure soon in 5 years audi will fire back and be ahead again. It's like a circle with these 3 brands. |

We get to choose our options individually here but then we pay a lot more for the standard car than you do in the States. I'd take a cheap car and bundled options any day of the week no question.

I moved here (almost willingly) because cars in Finland are so expensive there is no way of justifying buying any of this stuff there, so my comment hold (ones again) no value. |

I could quite easily turn your point around and say that they are being envious of the fact we get individual options here!!?? Your post is very dramatic and if I'm honest a bit bizarre.

There have been many other arguments online, but the fact is that Xenons have reached the peak legal brightness in headlights. ..and hey, I know it is not a Honda Civic, I am paying 8K for carbon brakes. |

Did you guys know that Toyota corolla has LED headlights standard? Apparently VW is about to do the same. It's crazy that BMW is charging $2k.
I drove a loaner with LED lights recently, I like the color but the beam is not very defined. LED's would be perfect with projector beams.

I know people have informed us that via coding this problem can be over written, but I was the idiot who said I do, when the fellow at the registration office asked if I really wanted an engineer, and therefore I can not risk any cables in the house, with what he can mess with my vehicle. If it was up to him (and it would be up to him, I couldn't fix it) I would end up driving while the horn blares the sounds of an ice cream truck. If someone, who is not mean and vindictive wants to help out a hopeless person, I'll take my chances. Be aware, I will hunt down your family tree till the 1800 just to make sure you have no mean seeds in you. With that, I mean Finns. |

That is how I will be rolling man! And yes, when you spot me in traffic, feel free to do as C does, and T will do, and laugh out loud.
I went to the dealers last night, C messaged me that he has a summer babe for me, and then I gave him a lift to his car. He is a big man, and he is a brave man to deal with me, but he still wanted to (didn't though) scream at me cause I just had to take the longer route to his vehicle, and slam the brakes because a Lexus was on a wrong lane. I think C will never voluntarily jump in to the M4 while I'm behind the wheel. Love that guy tough, he puts up with me. Last edited by Lups; 04-19-2014 at 11:56 PM.. Reason: words forgotten. |
