Well it's just possible that you're the only guy in San Fran with CCB's, heck maybe in all of Northern Cali!! Or not...lol.

Hey on an unrelated note, I've negotiated a Group Buy feeler with Pyspeed for some excellent BC Forged 19" wheels. I'm in of course, great price and I'll relegate the OEM rims for winter use. It's in the Wheels/Tires sub forum if you or anyone else hates the thought of 20's to eliminate this issue.

I just had my M3 in for its 1200 service. Dealer also said they have never seen this issue before but I don't think they have seen the CCBs on the M3 either. They were really interested/concerned about this problem and two different reps took photos of my 3x damaged passenger wheel (three different rings). I hope a solution comes soon. There is no way this does not effect the integrity of the wheel. In 1200 miles I got a rock in that wheel 3 times. In 5000 miles, there will be no more metal.

PS I got a fourth ring of pain on the way home from the dealer. Sigh...

I dread the day this happens. I am at 900 miles with no damage. I suppose it is inevitable but is there any way to prevent this? I am getting my head wrapped around the day this happens... Bummer.

5000 miles on my m4 with CCB and no issues with this yet. Maybe the roads are better in Texas.

Give us an update. Any issues with the HREs?

You have nothing to worry about had the screen replaced on my first F10 M5 but I decided to go with a windcreen expert rather than BMW rookies.

Had it done by BMW actually. They replace all the sensors/cameras, etc that'd otherwise be reused and so far so good. Cost a little more money but rather have it done correctly.

The stone get stuck at the bottom of the wheel rim in the barrel area and then the forward wheel rotation takes the stone into the Caliper which are mounted very low and rearward. Clearance is about 3-4mm in this area. This means it's likely to happen regularly, which it has!!
I had this happen to me as well. The grove can be buffed out usually it's just through the clear coat slightly. Still annoying !!!

Sorry to hear that dude. Mine is definitely through the paint. We can compare damage if we ever get to the track or a meet haha

CCB

Before I ordered my M3, I researched the advantages and disadvantages of CCB'S.
I was driving my somewhat modified 95 M3 for 19 years in driving schools,
mostly as an instructor. I had an upgrade brake system which performed very well (SSB).
One thing stuck in my mind and made me stick with the stock brakes was the comment by a race driver; If you go off the track into some gravel, you may as well throw them away. It will ruin the system.
Stay with the standard brakes and use track pads when driving in high speed events.

Lambo had the same issues on the Gallardo Superleggera. As far as I know owners were told to pound salt. Yes, it can create a potential safety issue but it is not the result of a faulty component. Therefore Bmw cannot be compelled to recall the cars for this issue and they would have to do it under a voluntary recall action. Hopefully they will do something but I wouldn't hold my breath. The concern is related to outside influence (stones, road debris) and it's impossible to completely prevent debris from getting in there. And since it is not related to a defective or faulty part it's not legally considered faulty or defective and therefore cannot warrant a federally mandated recall. I'm sure all warranty repairs up to this point have been goodwill repairs approved by the regional aftersales manager to appease clients for now until the research the issue. Eventually those repairs are likely to stop being approved once they figure out their official position.

What sucks is that I actually like the stock 19s. However, I'm anal about my cars, and I cant live with this. Once I wear out these tires, I'll be buying another set of wheels. Maybe 20s? I dont know. Nothing is cheap though. Even a cheap set of wheels will set me back 3k with tires 4-4.5k So yeah Cool....CCBs cost me over 12 grand.

I Love the way they look and the way the pedal feels but f that sh*t.
