Space saver spare
That's a decent price, as well. My identical setup cost about $245, but was more hassle.

Compact spare kit
Thanks to buddalun for finding this premade kit, which is not a bad deal: http://www.bimmerzone.com/BMW_Perfor...T-F80-KIT.html. You could also go with their E90 kit which uses the 145/70 tire to save 0.4" of height in the trunk: http://www.bimmerzone.com/BMW_Perfor...E90M3-KIT.html.

Compact spare for CCBs?
CCBs will need a 19" wheel to clear. Got to thinking when I saw the specs on the i3 that it uses a 19" x 5" wheel. Lug spacing should be same as most BMWs, but not sure of lug diameter (could be drilled out if 12mm). Might require a spacer.
The stock i3 tire is 155/70-19, which at ~27.6" is too large in diameter (M3/4 is 26.0-26.6"). The right diameter would be about a 135/70-19 (~26.4") or equivalent (145/60, 155/50 better for width). I found a Pirelli 3000 (discontinued model) on eBay UK at £98, but nothing in the US. If anyone can come up with one this might be a solution for those with the fancy brakes. If someone has a chance to test fit a wheel, that would be great. Continental does have a T125/70-19 on TireRack which at 25.9" is probably close enough (my 145/70-18 is 26.0"), though a 5"rim would stretch it pretty badly.

I'm considering getting the kit from bimmerzone with the jack etc.
They offer a spare tire tray. will this allow me to fit it under the trunk floor instead of the compressor/fix a flat BMW provides? Anyone got any pics of the bimmerzone 'tray'? |

It’s pictured on their website. Fits into wheel to hold jack, etc. No way this will fit under floor.

This size wheel 20x8.5 et20 (X5 wheel), with a 245 35 R20 tyre will fit both front and rear axles with negligible difference in rolling circumference.
It’s bigger than the space saver in the boot obviously but allows you to travel more confidently given its full size (if you want to interpret it as a space saver and drive it at 50mph then fine!) Obviously you need a jack etc for the change over. It cost me £230 or $300 for this set up. |

My thinking is if I’m somewhere remote and need a tyre, the chances of the “next town” having the correct size tyre if you’ve had to use a skinny space saver is the similar chance of getting a recovery in a decent time and therefore your continued journey will be on a skinny tyre! I’m prepared to compromise my boot space in the knowledge that I’m not going to compromise my journey! Obviously doing 50mph |

F30 has no spare tire accommodation. https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1062521 Don't quote me but I believe the last 3 series to accommodate a spare tire was the E46. I just carry around one of my winter wheels and tires in my M2

Who wants to get stuck waiting for a tow truck/ repair assistance for a shredded tire which can take hours. For road trips I carry a full size extra wheel in the boot w/ 225/45/18 tire + jack, torque wrench, and plug kit JIC if its just a nail. I don't have CCBs.
