Bought MPE from forum member, but its condition is not as advertised

Hi guys.
Just received an MPE that I have bought from another member in this forum.
It has just arrived and it's condition is Not as the seller has claimed in our correspondence. This person basically outright lied about it.
I have informed the seller of this and he has denied it all & won't recognise that he misled me into this sale.

The result is, I'm left with an MPE that is overpriced for its condition.

Have given him an opportunity to make things right. Let's hope he tries to.

Disappointed

If you pay via PayPal Goods service, which has 3% fee, you can always return and get full refund.

Thanks for all the advice fellas.
Am in touch with the seller & am waiting for his reply on this issue.
Do hope for an amicable solution to this utterly disappointing transaction.
Will share more on the outcome as it unfolds.

Just out of curiosity: How can the condition of a relatively new exhaust even vary?

Used exhaust can have all sorts of debris and impact damage.
On the other hand, if it works as advertised - who cares - noone will ever crawl underneath to see it, including the buyer post-install.

Way not enough information shared to take sides here...

Without more info and pics it's impossible for us to give our opinion on the matter. Put all the info out there in the court of public opinion a used exhaust (even relatively new) will show signs of use

This is true, but according the the OP, it was misrepresented, so none of that matters.

even if paypal doesnt side with you you can dispute with your credit card company and %99 of the time youll win and get your money back .

this is great for buyers but sucks for sellers . I was a seller one time on ebay selling some rear glass from a japanese vehicle and had in bold letters that a seal will have to be made or bought . well he disputed with ebay paypal and lost but still got his money back from credit card company . I basically lost 65$ for shipping and the glass . I didn't ask for him to send the glass back , i asked for him to break the glass and send pictures . then i used some other profanity and said I feel better donating to the needy . what an ass i am .

Haha. Back in the earlier days of Ebay, I bought some hoods grilles for my Z28 that were junk, looked nothing like the pictures and were all bent. The seller was a jerk, and wouldn't do anything because "it happened in shipping" and I didn't buy insurance. I told him that I would never put that junk on my car and I would rather "set them on fire and piss all over them". Not sure what I was thinking exactly, but the memory gave me a chuckle.

Lol. They were metal with some adhesive, which is what makes it absurd. I just threw them out.

No explicit mention of issues . . . Could be a purchaser that is never going to be happy no matter with a used exhaust, but too cheap to purchase new to step up and purchase a new one.

Are we talking one's use of the word good condition not comforting with the others general idea of "good" condition or something like he lied and said no holes when there where holes.

OP wasn't asking for opinions on if he was being reasonable. OP was asking what options he has, and relaying his story from his perception.

t is unlikely someone can give an opinion with out the underlying facts. I would need to see the add discretion and additional communication. Right now 1st you work with the seller, 2nd PayPal buyer protection (good luck), 3rd if your facts are correct then forum admin.
Send me the add link and some pics and will give an opinion

More often than not, many people use the 'send money to friends' option with PayPal to avoid paying the extra 3% sellers ask for on forum transactions. This, when funded from a bank account, provides ZERO protection or recourse in the case something doesn't arrive or arrives not as described.

"Condition" is such a subjective word !

I am struggling to see how bad a used exhaust "condition" can be !

Scratches, dings and dents ?
Dirty exo ? (that's an oxymoron)
MPE carbon tips cracking ?

Or is there FUNCTIONAL defects ? (eg. crack lines, holes at welding joints)

Need more info !!

... since you've chosen to air your dirty laundry in public forum

I had specifically asked if the exhaust had and cracks or dents.
Reply was "no cracks or dents it's mint!"
Exhaust showed up with 2 welding marks on each side of the muffler box.
The most commonly occurring places of cracks.
The exhaust had basically been repaired. Hence my feeling cheated.

Anyways, the seller has replied & has made good on the entire issue. Glad to put this to a close.

Do appreciate all your feedback & advice.
