If you look at the specs of both you will see that P4S have a slightly larger thread width than its respective-size PSS -generic to generic. Thread width is what makes the P4S look plum instead of stretched like the PSS

I just got a set of 275/30-20 PS4 and they are significantly wider in bulge than the 275/30-20 PSS in my brother's M3 wheels -same wheel width (10") on both.

Attached are a comparison of the specs PS4S vs PSS. Is this what you're seeing - that tread width on PS4S is smaller (11.5") vs PSS (11.7").

Looking at the specs in TireRack, it is actually the other way around. The PSS 275/30R20 has a 10.1" wide tread while the PS4S is at 9.8".

Maybe something is off with the specs published by TireRack...

Correct.

I went back after your post and checked my own sizes (275/30-20) and its thread width now shows a .3" less width than the PSS. Used to be reversed. I remember going thru several sizes and noticing the same increase in tread width from PSS to P4S.

If the specs were revised then I owe you an apology, stand corrected. The difference in width is readily apparent in real life.

I suppose that once he realizes that I have a staggered setup he will actually ask for two full size spares...we never got to that part. I think it's clear they really don't want to sell non-run-flats for replacement of run-flats. I will verify with other Costcos in the area.
For what car was that?

Looks like the PS4 have a slightly smaller tread width but exact same sectional width as PSS. referring to 265/30/19 and 295/30/19 sizes. So, I will bump up to 275 and 305 to get closer to the same tread widths.

The tire is now past the 500 mile "break-in" period so finally decided to attempt to try to use launch control. Launch control used to produce nothing but a smoky burnout for me. Now to my surprise, it just links up and goes!! Soooo impressed!

Just ordered a set, I will take pics. I ordered the next width up from 265/30 and 295/30 to get the same tread width as my current PSS. A little more rim protection might be an added bonus.

Just put mine on. First pics are the new 4s tires 265/30/19 and 305/30/19 replacing 265/30/19 and 295/30/19 PSS. ET 20 and ET 40 rear. In retrospect I should have gone 265/35/19 to match sidewall height on rear, the OCD among you may not get over it but I guess I can live with it. Can't comment yet on performance and comfort was compromised since they inflated to 40 psi. No rubbing on an moderate ACS spring drop. I have pics. NO stretched look at this size on 19x9.5 and 19x11 rims.

Tire buyer has a $100 discount for BMWCCA members through 9/16 (but anyone can use the discount with the link). Not sure if the $70 Michelin rebate is still applicable, but this seems like the best deal right now and shipping is free to their network of installers

Apologies for the filthy car and crappy photos but I figured this might help some people out there. This is 255/35-19 + 285/35-19 PS4S with 12mm spacers on stock suspension. No comments on performance yet as I've only driven a few miles on them, but coming from Conti 5Ps I'm really looking forward to these tires.

I really like the tires so far, traction from a stop has immediately improved. They are quieter too.

Debating if I should wait until October 1st for Michelin to drop the 295/35/19, or just go with what's available now, which is the 275/30 and the 295/30...

Curious as to how much space is left for those of you running 275/30 + 295/30 setup...

I am running 265/30/20 and 295/30/20 and the ride comfort has not been compromised in comparison to the stock 19" setup. I do like to point out that I have the adaptive suspension.

Legit don't know what to do... Usually I'm pretty confident with purchases but what's throwing me off is the overall design of the PS4s...

I know I can fit 275/35/19 up front with no issues... But I've heard from quite a few that 295/35/19 may be a bit much for the rears - again, only because of the shape/size of the PS4s...

I will be needing new tires soon, have 20,000 miles on my RE71R's, been great but time to move on to less noise and softer ride. I was thinking of the new PS 4S, 255/40-19 front and 295/35-19 rears. Just found out the 4S rears will be available end of Oct. My M3 is stock adaptive suspension, no spacers, stock wheels. BTW, I'm running 265/35-19 front and 305/30-19 rears now.
