I'm livid

Took wife's car (M235i) to Northwest BMW for oil change two days ago. When picking up the car, the front M perf lip (abs) middle portion was bent straight down, clearly rammed into something. The car is not lowered at all btw, stock suspension. I immediately notice it driving up. And I also know for a fact it was not like that dropped off because I unloaded my winter wheels from her car just prior to dropping the car off, it was fine. They tell me they need to review video footage of the car when it was pulling into the service garage on Monday. Fine. Now they're saying the video is inconclusive and offering to pay for HALF to fix it. Why the hell should I pay a cent for damage they incurred??? Jesus I'm pissed off. Thanks for reading my rant.

Don't accept that at all.....they know they are liable and you have to hold their ass to the fire until they pay every dime. Sorry this happened and that's some bullshit.

That's what I'm doing. I'm asking to review the video myself. Anyone know what the chain of command is for something like this?

Always check ur car before driving even if it makes you look like a douche lol.

The first thing my dealer does when I pull in is take pics of my car with a dslr. Every dealer should do that

the Service and Parts director would be the go to person for this. You should also file a complaint with the BBB immediately.

Don't they do a damage inspection with you before you drop the car off and have you sign it? I always get that before turning over my keys. BMW Silver Spring has a steep incline into their lot. Kind of surprised more folks don't report damage from there.

Well, I'll be doing that from now of course. Hindsight is 20/20. Regardless, we'll see what comes of it. Worst case scenario is I just take off the bottom piece bc it's trashed. Best case scenario: new lip ?

This. Rallye takes a million pictures as soon as you pull in. It is mainly for their own protection and it is also their way to discourage folks thinking about raising hell over previous damage that was already on the car.

A few years back my partner purchased a top of the line Lexus from Rallye Lexus here. Every time he needed a loaner vehicle they always went through the entire car like when you rent a car and marked every single little scratch, dent and blemish on the paint, they even marked the exact fuel level. His car broke down somewhere in Virginia / Maryland at one point and he got towed into a local dealer. He said when he picked up / dropped off the loaner there noone even went outside to look at the car, they didn't care at all. I guess customers in the tri-state area tend to be slightly more dishonest.

OP stick to your guns, they are just testing you. It's a free shot - besides the feedback hit - for them, next time you say you want it replaced at absolutely no cost to you I am fairly certain they will not argue with you any longer. GL

Also, if you're a CCA member, they have ombudsmen that can help.

If you are a BMW CCA member (which I strongly recommend), we have an advocate that can intervene in such matters.

Sterling BMW damaged my wheel while it was in service. They also insisted on checking the footage of it being dropped off and it wasn't clear enough to see for sure. Nonetheless, they replaced my wheel at no cost. Push for them to pay all of it. They should have noted it on the condition report when you dropped it off. If they didn't, then it wasn't like that.

I've been so busy, I completely forgot to follow up. They ended up fixing everything at no cost as a "courtesy"
