Mechanic is suggesting new DCT clutch
My 2015 M3 (DCT) is throwing a drivetrain code (clutch bank 2 pressure too high). My mechanic suggests that the clutch is wearing out. First, the car does not slip gears, rather it periodically places the car in limp mode. After a restart, the car operates normally. I would be shocked if this were, in fact, the result of a worn or bad clutch, given I have 60k miles and the car is stock.
I was told by another BMW shop owner/mechanic that the DCT fluid should be drained and both filters replaced first. I suggested this to the shop that currently has the car, and they told me that we can do that, but the vehicle will not allow him to apply the clutch relearning procedure. He said that this is because the clutch is worn. Am I missing something? Any feedback is welcomed and appreciated. |

Agree with Rick. Take the car somewhere else. Is there a reason you don't go to the other shop recommending to replace the DCT fluid? Out of curiosity, have you flashed the DCT?

F10 clutches sometimes would slip around 60-70k so it’s not completely unheard of. Always get another opinion. It only makes sense to change all fluids first unless they’ve been changed recently.

when dealing with transmission or major engine issues, always get a second opinion and research what they've told you. The m5 DCT is known to get banged up and have issues, it also has a known sensor problem. Good that you are asking around.
