No. GOLFFRR noted that it should be available again for MY '16 but I don't think he meant by any means to imply that was a sure bet.

Could just be a shortage of pigment which could presumably be addressed in the coming months. Or perhaps there is some more serious issue that will force them to discontinue it indefinitely. We will have to wait and see.

Oh I see, past is prologue, then?

It would be nice if "launch colors" were considered special enough to run a finite period but realistically I know market demand will make this determination.

As for AY, If I had to guess, AY and even YMB won't last long as general color offerings, but will be delegated to the individual choice list. Where as SO(bringing this back where it started from) will always be destin for greatness!

we can only go off what we currently know which is what is posted and we all know now (See Ghetto post for bulletin). BMW at this time is telling us about the color, we have no info yet on when the color will be back to normal status or taken off the table at this time for future builds. As soon as we get info I def try my best to relay it onto you guys as fast as possible

Yes. M3/M4 are built in Regensburg or Munich depending on body style while M5/M6 are built in Dingolfing.

Quote:
If the production constraint is within BMW then the plant might be the issue, if it is a constraint from the paint supplier then maybe BMW is allocating the SO paint only to the M5/6 plant.
My guess is that the Dingolfing plant happens to have enough supply to cover the forecasted quantities for now, perhaps because the M5/M6, particularly in SO, are very low volume. I suspect that if whatever issue is causing the shortage persists long enough, SO will become unavailable for those cars too.

What's odd was that I had to log in to PKoD to see this news I posted. I would have figured that this would have been a bulletin on DCS/CenterNet instead. Perhaps if they did, we as dealers would have seen this earlier. I can guarantee that the majority of dealers in the USA still do not know about this...

Well, I have a question in to my CA since I have an order, confirmed by BMW NA, a production number, and an ED date of 15 May. I would assume that I would be OK, but want to hear it from him. The car will certainly not be built in February.

I guess this makes mine MORE exclusive, and I DIDN'T have to pay $5000 for BMW Individual.

I am in the same boat as you, as my ED delivery date is the 16th of May and put this question into my CA who in turn contacted BMW.

He just got back to me this morning stating that BMW told him since I had a confirmed production week, I will not encounter any issues getting SO.

So that answers my question......

Still think it's odd that given everything is pretty much the same between the M3 and M4, SO was only removed from the M3 (which is cool if you have an order in on one), but not both... same assembly plant, same car (aside from the obvious). Wonder why just M3 and not M4 too?

That must be a terrible disappointment for so many people.

Here's my SO, I love the colour, wouldn't have any other.

Not same plant actually, M4 is built in Munich (along with rest of 4-series) and M3 is built in Regensburg (along with the other 3ers)

Ahhh. I stand corrected. Still an interesting decision.
