Could be as simple as not enough cars coming through with SO paint code orders in Regensberg to justify the cost of stocking it, and taking the production delays to setup for SO paint spraying. a

I think it looks great either way, but I chose the black... I want to totally get those black contrasts... CF Roof, Kidney Grills, Side Grills, CF Spoiler, Tint and black wheels ... Just another month and pics will go up!!

It's hard to see for sure, but it looks like he may have chosen the sunroof option, so I believe that negates the CF roof if I'm not mistaken. I don't even think CF roof is an option to choose, just moonroof which if chosen negates the CF roof.

For a while there was a supply shortage of CF roofs, and most dealers could only fill their allocations by ordering steel-roofed M3/4s with sun-roofs. So now their is a glut of them on dealer lots, with very few CF roofed cars. Must folks who placed individual orders went with CF roofs. Most who picked up a car at a dealership are driving around with sun roofs. I do love that SO color in the sun. Just gorgeous. a

It arrived in November after 4 months, just before Thanksgiving. The only mod I've had done is the Clear Bra to (hopefully) protect the front end of the car from rock nicks. I love it just the way it is! If I had to order it again, I would order it exactly the same way, no regrets. |

I wish BMW would give the option to have paint matched brake calipers, instead of the standard blue ones (assuming you don't get the 8K ceramic upgrade). How awesome would it look to have SO calipers. I wonder if you can have them repainted?

BMW really should have a sunroof with black roof option if they can't do it with carbon fiber, or somehow make a carbon fiber sunroof option and charge $1500 for it...
Mercedes sunroof on the new C63 does this (whole roof is black when adding panoramic sunroof). as for SO, its strange that only BMWUSA.com doesn't show it as an option, all other sites (including Canada) still show it. Maybe they have limited amounts of paint left and decided to limit it to the US only? Although I think the possibility of it being a slow mover is very likely too, the amount of M3s made compared to M4s is very small and then to only have 10% (think I saw that somewhere) in this color, maybe there are production issues with that, so they are delaying it until the new models start production in July, makes sense to me. If BMW does have SO available in July and Mercedes does not offer their bright blue or red colors in the US (which is the current rumor), I will be ordering a M3, that's how close the two cars are to me, has come down to exterior color options |

That would make sense, at least from the standpoint of them not removing it from the build site... why would they not remove it from the site if it was not available for the M4? I would still love to know the "REAL" reason for dropping it from only the M3, and only in the US. Odd.

FYI, I was able to switch my M4 order to Sakhir Orange (B50) today. I went to the dealer yesterday and my order was 111 status (accepted at AG) with priority 0 (tourist retail / ED). My dealer was unable to change the order through their system, I assume due to the priority 0 status. The dealer simply sent an email to BMW NA and it was changed by this morning. I received the updated order inquiry report with the modified color this morning. The order is still 111 status with priorty 0. Hope that helps anyone who is still curious wether it's still available on the M4.
When I first placed my ED order, I was hesitant to order the Sakhir Orange because it was so bright. After reading so many positive reactions and seeing lots of awesome pictures, I decided to take the plunge. I'm very excited; this color is amazing! Edit: I just went to bmwusa.com to build an M4 and Sakhir Orange Metallic paint is gone! It was there yesterday... Last edited by TheBenzor; 03-09-2015 at 04:46 PM.. |

I hadn't even considered SO until I saw one in my dealer's showroom last July. I had already test driven a F80 M3 sedan, at another dealer but I wanted to see an M4 coupe. At that time, I was expecting to order either AW or MW with Sonoma Beige interior. I had checked the web site for Niello BMW looking to see if they had a to see. The did at their Elk Grove location, so I went down there to check it out. It was SO with the SO full leather interior and the silver 19" wheels. It had just about every option that you can get on an M4, including CCB's, DCT, and LED light package, and I wanted the moonroof on mine. Instantly when I saw the car, I knew that SO was the color I wanted. Within a week or so, I ordered mine and it arrived in November, just before Thanksgiving. After three months and 2500+ miles, I'm still loving it! You'll love yours too. |

Well, that would make sense. Just couldn't see the removal from M3 and not M4, but now it is indeed gone from both. Be real interesting to see what happens with MY16!
