An M division representative also reported to Road and Track nearly 10 years ago that there will never be an automatic M car. So I wouldn't put it past them.
Off topic - your car sits beautifully, do I remember correctly that it is on HR sport springs? |

LOL you're right...IIRC it was in reference to future models around the time the E46M came out. Hinted at automated sequential gear changing but specifically ruled out the future emergence of torque converters. If I'm ambitious enough I'll find the quote as I have an ungodly amount of old R&T's but we'll see

I hope it never comes in AWD, else I'd buy one in a microsecond. Only reason I am not driving one is because it's RWD (much respect to RWD but I use the car as a DD in winter and prefer having AWD, hehe). Don't need another reason to spend more money!!!!!!!

Well, considering the xi's 0-100 numbers are (slightly) faster than the i's, I would tend to say that no, not only.

The ///M division also said that there will never be an ///M car equipped with automatic after the E36 M3 fiasco. They also said there will never be an M engine with force induction. And they said there will never be a none-RWD M.
Well we all know what happens with what the ///M Gmbh said. Let's face it. They've sold out. If they'll put an automatic, turbocharged V-8 in an X5 and X6 and slap ///M badges on it, what makes you or ANYONE think that any of the things that's not suppose to happen to the M3, won't happen? Don't be surprised if there's a front wheel driven, automatic turbocharged V-6 ///M in the near future. With run-flats. |

yep, it's a business. only reason to have a business is to make money. you make (the most) money by catering to masses with a brand they know and respect. Hopefully there's never a trend where people really start clamoring for a ///M trike..

There is no plans for a straight M sedan with xDrive.
Due to the concern AWD adds weight which is why the X series M models exist. If you want AWD then it will have to be either X5M or X6M , but there will be a X3M and a X4M in the not-so-distant future. |

i would not be in an e90 335i xdrive if the e90 m3 came in AWD. I would be in the M3
i am sure bmw can make it work. plus bmw said that 1) it would always have a spare tire 2) it would never have a M SAV/SUV 3) it would never have FWD cars - we know thats not true 4) it would not come out with a 1M I mean, the list goes on and on. If BMW AG can make money off an AWD M3, expect one.

The way I see it though, most car companies have sold out because well, the argument is they have to change with the times. e.g. Porsche now has a SUV and a 4-door sedan. Ferrari and Porsche are now clothing brands. Mitsubishi also makes VCR's (ok, so they're kind of like Samsung and just do everything). Point is, BMW or any car company is still a company and it's out to make money. In all truthfulness, I'd buy an M3 too if it came with an AWD option. I went with the 335 xdrive too because of the availability of the AWD too. |
