Can I afford an M4?

Hello, I am wondering if I can afford an M4.

Current Salary: 130k

Net worth: 100K (50% liquid)

Age: 22

Current monthly expenses: 1.5k

I would be looking to get one in the 40k-50k. (2018 M4)

This should be in the general forum, not the gts subforum

I think you can afford it, but it's a other question whether it's smart to get something so powerful at 22. I don't think so, but to each their oen

I’d get a few insurances quotes given your age. I’m almost in my mid 50s and I pay $650/year.

Insurance is one of the biggest scams. We’ve been fortunate and have been with the same company for over thirty years. Our most expensive car to insure is a ‘18 M240ix for some reason at $742/year.

Erie Insurance.

I used an agency to request quotes from multiple insurance companies.

OP, you can afford it. Send it.

Do check your insurance costs though as it could be a lot, as others have said.

GEICO - 38 y/o, $236/month for F82, E92 M3, E46 M3, E30, E90 330i, and E53 X5. Been with the same insurance for 19 years.

Are you saying $236/month for all 6 cars? Fully comp?

Sure, why not? I bought mine when I was 25 and I was only making a smidge over 100K which is equivalent to 120K in today's money. My monthly expenses were more than 1.5K because I owned two houses by that age. I didn't have much liquidity since my money was tied up in real estate.

You're in a somewhat better financial situation than I was since your monthly expenses are lower and you made a bit more than I did back then and I made it work. My M4 was bought new too and it wasn't 40-50K lol. And I wasn't stuck eating instant noodles everyday either lol.

But you also need to be ready to pony up tire money since the car eats tires if you daily drive it. My car is 5 years old and I'm on my third set of tires at 46K miles also insurance was not cheap either.
