No you're abslutely correct. My response was more directed to the other poster who just wants there to be no discussion at all. As if when someone answers a question, there should be no more discussion about this topic again. My point was that we still did not have the entire story, so the discussion should continue. And that's exactly what I was pointing out. That's all.

gotcha, just wanted to make sure everyone realizes we can only post info we are given by BMW, and can only relay the current info we have. All good my friend.

I love the discussion, shoot the more the better! Keeps this forum alive and keeps guys like me entertained whenever we click the "new post" button! lol

So it's because of "production capacity constraints"? I wonder what is going on. GOLFFRR, is it also no longer available as an M5/M6 color as of 2/15 as well? Hard to imagine how a paint supply issue could affect one vehicle while another is uneffected.

Another color or just wait till May, what other choices do you have? If it were me, SO is worth waiting till May. The few extra months are no big to get the color you want.

Straight from BMW NA as of 2/6/15:

Looks like B50 Sakhir Orange should be available for Model Year 2016, which has a SOP of July 2015. If any of you guys are still looking to order Sakhir Orange, I would perhaps have your store manager send a request to the Area Market Manager to see if they will approve a Sakhir Orange order still. Sorry guys!

EDIT: This message also shows for the F82 M4 Coupe and F83 M4 Convertible as well.

For my fellow dealership personnel, visit PKoD for confirmation.
Interesting, I know very little about the process of painting a car but aren't the M3/4s made in a different production plant than the M5/6? If the production constraint is within BMW then the plant might be the issue, if it is a constraint from the paint supplier then maybe BMW is allocating the SO paint only to the M5/6 plant.

Either way, I hope SO becomes even more exclusive for resale purposes

My CA was able to call BMW to get my order approved. Order placed today, status 111, M3 in Sakhir Orange. I am doing ED, though; not sure if that matters.

This must be the sorriest selection of exterior colors for an M3 in its history...

Yeah, BMW should ruin the hopes and desires of future buyers so that a couple people can feel elitist.

Those are the colors of the Euro special editions. I think that the E30 M3 had about 8 exterior colors available in the USA.

My bad, looked into a little more and it looks like at any point in time the E30 M3 had about 4 colors (white, black, silver, and red).

The relevant and interesting thing here is that BMW had no problems discontinuing certain colors every couple of years. See for yourself at the bottom...

What is odd is that the SO is only for a few months then will be available again for MY16.

Don't get me wrong, exterior color choice has been the bane of my existence since I actually like so many (with SS and SO being my front runners).

BMW might have actually done me a favor and made this easier.

VO wasn't exclusive to the 1M, why should AY be just for the M3/M4.

I may have misread something or missed a post, but is it confirmed somewhere that SO will be on the mY 2016?
